I just read this again, and wanted to record my impressions. I think this is my favorite of all the Earthsea books. Or else it's tied with Stories from Earthsea
. They're both excellent. I love Tehanu as a young woman. Though she's still someone who has been badly hurt, though that never has left her entirely, she does triumph in the very satisfying though sad ending. I cried at the culmination of her story, and of Irian's (from the earlier book). I wonder whether Magery will also have left the world at the end. I don't think that question was answered.
